Stephanie Ulmer is a New Zealand-trained general surgeon with specialist training in bariatric (weight loss), breast and general surgery. She completed her surgical training in 2006 and gained further expertise in Australia across multiple forms of laparoscopic weight loss surgery, before training in breast cancer and reconstructive surgery in Manchester, UK, and being appointed Consultant in General Surgery at Middlemore Hospital.
On returning to New Zealand, Stephanie established BetterLife Surgery and has since completed more than 300 bariatric procedures. She performs most of her weight loss surgery at Ormiston Hospital and now consults from the Ormiston Specialist Centre, championing a multi-disciplinary approach to weight management that combines dietary, physical and psychological support.
Stephanie takes real satisfaction from the life-changing impact bariatric surgery can have, and values the relationships she builds with patients from their first consultation through years of follow-up care.
